I have a 2008 Mini S.need to program a new key fob, I think that's it. It only came with a single FOB.we bought it - Answered by a verified BMW Mechanic We use cookies to give you the best possible experience on our website.
So if I have any key fob from any car I can just insert for 20 seconds and it will program to the new car? I bought a used fob on eBay to try this before spending $200+ at the dealer and didn't think that was possible.are you sure you didn't get a key made for the car by the dealer?
I'll try this later though, now im interested! Markcc, I don't think this will work with a key that has already been programmed for another car. I can confirm that it does indeed work for a blank key. When I picked up my car, it only came with one fob. My CA grabbed a fob from parts and just stuck it into the key slot for a little while (I didn't time her, but 20 seconds sounds about right) and, voila, I had a second key for my car.

You program it by putting it into the key slot inside the car? Or are you talking about the slots at the dealership to look up profile info? You have me all concerned that our cars security sucks.
